Cookie Policy

1) WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are short strings of text that the websites we visit transmit and save on our computers. They contain information that, when we reconnect to a website we have already visited, allows for more effective and enjoyable browsing, as they store the visitor's preferences and tastes. The data is stored in a completely anonymous manner, i.e. there is no link between the stored data (e.g. IP address, browser and/or operating system used, pages visited on the website) and the user's personal data.

2) TYPES OF COOKIES

There is a wide variety of cookies. To categorise them in a reasonable way, we identify three types of attributes: duration (lifecycle), origin and purpose.

The first type includes:

SESSION COOKIES: these cookies are not stored permanently on the user's device and are deleted when the browser is closed.

PERSISTENT COOKIES: instead of disappearing when the browser is closed, persistent cookies expire after a certain period of time. This means that, for the entire lifetime of the cookie, its information will be transmitted to the server each time the user visits the same site. For this reason, persistent cookies can be used by advertisers to record information about a user's web browsing habits over an extended period of time. They are also used to make browsing more "convenient" for the user (for example, they are used to keep users logged into their accounts on websites, so that they do not have to enter their credentials to access the websites each time they visit).

Del secondo tipo sono:

FIRST-PARTY COOKIES: these are sent to the browser directly from the website you are visiting. They can be either persistent or session cookies; they are managed directly by the owner and/or manager of the website and are used, for example, to ensure its technical functioning or to keep track of preferences expressed regarding the use of the website itself.

THIRD-PARTY COOKIES: these belong to domains other than the one shown in the address bar. These types of cookies typically appear when web pages have advertising banners or links to external websites. Most modern web browsers contain privacy settings that can block third-party cookies.

The third type includes:

TECHNICAL COOKIES: these are used for navigation and to facilitate access and use of the site by the user. Technical cookies are essential, for example, to access Google or Facebook without having to log in to every session.  In terms of privacy (GDPR 2018), users visiting the site need only be made aware of their use, without the need for 'consent'.

STATISTICAL COOKIES (ANALYTICS): these are used for website optimisation purposes, directly by the website owner, who may collect aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the website, but in a completely anonymous manner. If this condition is met, in terms of privacy (GDPR 2018), the same applies as for technical cookies: it is sufficient to inform visitors that the website uses them.

PREFERENCE STORAGE COOKIES: these cookies are useful for facilitating the correct use of the website by the user. They are used, for example, to keep track of the chosen language.

ADVERTISING COOKIES: these cookies are designed to provide advertising space. They can be installed by the website owner or by third parties. Some are used to recognise individual advertisements and to know which ones have been selected and when. Other advertising cookies are used to create a user's browsing 'profile' so that advertising messages can be tailored to their behaviour and interests on the web. This 'profile' is anonymous and this type of cookie does not allow the user's identity to be traced. In this case, however, the cookie is the basis for systems that drive so-called 'behavioural advertising'.

SOCIAL NETWORK COOKIES: these allow you to share the content of the website you are visiting with other users. These cookies are typically used to activate the "Like" or "Follow" functions on social networks. These functions allow social networks to identify their users and collect information even while they are browsing other websites.

3) WHAT COOKIES DOES THE SWISS ECO POWER WEBSITE USE?

Our website uses the following types of cookies:

TECHNICAL COOKIES and STATISTICAL COOKIES: both of these types do not require consent under current legislation. Users are informed of their use by means of a specific notice (e.g. a banner) before accessing the website pages.

4) COOKIE MANAGEMENT AND BROWSER SETTINGS

This website works best when cookies are enabled. However, you can decide to change the cookie management settings on the internet browser you normally use and delete those already stored on your computer.

If you completely disable cookies, you may disable some features of the site. Even if you set the maximum level of cookie disabling allowed by your browser, your computer will still store a small amount of information necessary for the basic functionality of any website.

To help you with this task, below you will find information on how to change your cookie settings.
